Launch builds on strong demand for Putnam’s US equity strategies from UK investors

London – 30 September 2026 – Franklin Templeton1, a global investment leader, today announced the launch of the FTGF Putnam Global Research Fund2, expanding UK investor access to the investment capabilities of Putnam Investments. The fund is a sub-fund of the Ireland-domiciled Franklin Templeton Global Funds plc (FTGF) range.

The launch marks the next phase of Franklin Templeton’s strategy to broaden UK client access to Putnam Investments’ capabilities, following the introduction of its flagship US equity strategies last year.

Harry Reeves, Head of UK Wholesale, Franklin Templeton, commented: “We’ve seen strong momentum for Putnam Investments in the UK, with clients responding well to its deep fundamental research and disciplined approach to stock selection. What particularly resonates is the consistency of the approach and Putnam’s philosophy of being ‘consistently good, not occasionally great’.

“The success of the US Research strategy has given us a strong base to build from, and the Global Research Fund is a natural next step, giving UK investors access to Putnam’s best ideas across global equity markets.

“This is about building on an established investment capability and using Franklin Templeton’s platform to broaden access for UK clients. We see strong potential for the strategy as investors continue to look for differentiated active approaches that can complement broader market exposure.”

The new fund builds on the strong demand for the FTGF Putnam US Research Fund3, which has raised more than $5bn4 since it was introduced to investors in Europe and the UK in April 2025. Over the past 12 months5 it has also attracted more flows than any other actively managed US large-cap UCITS mutual fund or ETF. Its underlying Putnam US Research Equity Strategy, established in 1995, has more than $9.6bn6 in assets under management.

Kate Lakin, Portfolio Manager, Putnam Investments, commented: “Fundamental bottom-up research is at the heart of everything we do. Our experienced team has deep-sector expertise focused on driving returns from stock selection with the goal of outperforming in a variety of market environments.

“We are excited to build upon the strength of our successful US Research strategy by including our non-US expertise in a global portfolio for European investors. The fund is designed for investors seeking global equity exposure that aims to generate excess returns through high-conviction stock selection, while controlling factor exposures to drive performance from idiosyncratic risk.”

Best-ideas global equity portfolio

The FTGF Putnam Global Research Fund will seek long-term capital appreciation through a diversified global equity portfolio built from the team’s highest-conviction stock ideas.

The fund brings together Putnam’s established fundamental research capabilities and long-standing non-US equity expertise into a single portfolio to identify differentiated investment opportunities across global equity markets. Its strategy combines deep-sector expertise with disciplined portfolio construction and integrated risk management.

The portfolio is divided into 11 investment sleeves. The sleeves are managed by portfolio managers and analysts from Putnam’s Equity Research team who are responsible for buy/sell decisions, portfolio construction and risk management of their respective areas of expertise.

Through its fundamental research, the team seeks to identify companies where earnings expectations differ materially from market consensus. The fund invests in stocks that represent the team’s highest-conviction stock ideas across sectors and geographies.

Managed with a sector- and region-neutral approach relative to the MSCI World Index, the fund is expected to hold between 150-200 stocks and maintain a significant allocation to the US while providing diversified exposure to opportunities across global equity markets.

With the flexibility to invest across both growth and value stocks, the team takes a multi-year investment horizon focused on long-term business drivers while seeking to capitalise on shorter-term market mispricing.

The fund will be co-managed by Boston-based Portfolio Managers Kate Lakin, Matt LaPlant, CFA, Vivek Gandhi, CFA and London-based David Morgan, who have an average of 27 years in the industry.

The FTGF Putnam Global Research Fund is registered for distribution in Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
